It Begins

So this is it.

About ten weeks ago, I didn't know that I'd be in this airport, right now, sucking down a way-too-sugary drink to calm my nerves before leaving the country.

That's where I am, though: waiting at Oakland Airport to board the plane for the first leg of my trip to Germany, stopping in Copenhagen. I'm jittery, excited, nervous, homesick already. If you're reading this blog you've probably heard that much from me already. I'm kind of a sentimental  lil baby.

I had to cancel some plans with friends I wanted to see yesterday because the stress was really setting in. I did get to stay with two of my friends who have been calming me down and letting me be a shivery stressed noodle without judgment. Thanks, Nick and Alyssandra!

My flight leaves at 8:00 tonight, and will land in Berlin at 9:15 Wednesday night, their time(approx. 11:15 am Wednesday on the Pacific coast). I got here at the airport at 2:00 PM, a full six hours before boarding. They wouldn't let me check in or anything, and seemed completely baffled that I'd get here so early. Honestly I just wanted to get past the security checkpoint so I could breathe and wait a little bit more calmly for the flight. Finally got in at about 4, an hour and a half before writing this post. Boarding starts in two hours. I'm jittery. It's gonna be great, I'm sure. I'm really sure. I'm really really
really
sure.
